Single card or group card - which is right for me?+

Validity & Use

How long is the Hamburg CARD valid?+

Validity begins on your chosen start date at 00:00 and ends on the final day of validity at 06:00 the following morning. The card is available for 1 to 5 days, is date-specific, personal, and does not need to be validated.

How do I receive my Hamburg CARD after purchase?+

After purchase you receive a ready-to-use ticket by email. You then add your card to the free app "Hamburg - Erleben & Sparen" (iOS and Android). A plain PDF on your smartphone is not sufficient - the card must be activated and used through the app.

Is the Hamburg CARD transferable?+

The card is personal and non-transferable. The single card is valid for 1 adult plus up to 3 children aged 6-14; the group card is valid for up to 5 people of any age. As there is only one shared ticket for the group card, all members of your group must stay together during ticket inspections.

Public Transport

Which means of transport can I use with the Hamburg CARD?+

You can travel all day, without restrictions on the U-Bahn, S-Bahn, buses, and harbour ferries within HVV fare zone AB. Journeys to the surrounding area outside zone AB are not covered. Further details are on the Public Transport page.

Does the Hamburg CARD cover the journey to the airport?+

Yes. Hamburg Airport is within HVV zone AB, so the journey on the S-Bahn S1 to and from the airport is included with the public transport version. The S1 runs approximately every 10 minutes, and the journey to the main station takes around 25 minutes.

Do I need to validate the Hamburg CARD?+

No, validation is not required. On the U-Bahn and S-Bahn you board without barriers, and on buses you briefly show your card to the driver. During ticket inspections, simply present your Hamburg CARD digitally in the app.

Benefits & Attractions

What is the Hamburg CARD and what is included?+
